Preserve Rural Lancaster County

Why we need to stay vigilant

-Solar companies frequently resubmit modified proposals
-County zoning laws and approval processes need ongoing attention
-Community voice remains crucial for any future proposals
-Other solar projects in the region are still active concerns

What were the potential impacts of this project?

The Merry Point Solar Project would have negative impacts on the environment, local agriculture, and the community. Solar projects can disrupt wildlife habitats and pollute our waterways.

How can we protect Lancaster County’s rural character?

We can protect Lancaster County’s rural character by opposing the Merry Point Solar Project and advocating for sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship and protections for our waterways. Solar Farms can be good – but NOT at the head waters of the Western Branch of the Corrotoman – Change the setback regulations to tidal waters from 250 ft to 3/4 of a mile like other nearby counties.

How can I get involved in protecting our rural character?

You can get involved by joining local advocacy groups, attending public hearings and contacting elected officials.
